Advent magic in the "City of Stars"
Throughout the pre-Christmas and Christmas season, Hilpoltstein presents itself under the motto "City of Stars". On the first weekend of Advent, the sparkle reaches its peak: The Hilpoltstein Christmas Market transforms the historic market square below the castle into an atmospheric town of stalls with warm punch, hearty and sweet specialties, and beautiful gift ideas.
The Christkind and its Prologue
A special moment is the appearance of the Hilpoltstein Christkind: On Saturday afternoon, it recites its prologue from the town hall window, then approaches the children, collects wish lists, and distributes small gifts. On Sunday afternoon, St. Nicholas arrives, brings Christmas stories, and distributes nuts and chocolate.
Star Huts and Wish Mailbox
Special "Star Huts" display a nostalgic "Christmas shop window" with old Christmas decorations and a small train. Children can drop their wish lists into a special star mailbox there, which collects letters to the Christkind until shortly before Christmas.
Christmas Market Hilpoltstein — edition 2026
On the first Advent weekend, Saturday and Sunday, 28 and 29 November 2026, Hilpoltstein invites you to the traditional Christmas Market in the "City of Stars". Lovingly decorated stalls with mulled wine, specialties, and gift ideas line the historic market square below the castle.
On Saturday afternoon, the Hilpoltstein Christkind recites its prologue from the town hall window and subsequently distributes small gifts to the children. On Sunday afternoon, St. Nicholas arrives with Christmas stories, nuts, and chocolate. In the Star Huts, children can drop their wish lists into the star mailbox.
