Last major Volksfest of the season in the Hasestadt — three days of funfair with rides and market stalls in the city centre
Haselünne, the historic Hasestadt in the southern Emsland region, boasts centuries of market history. The town received its town and market rights as early as the Middle Ages, and from this tradition, several recurring market events developed over the centuries, of which the Herbstkirmes remains a highlight in the city's event calendar to this day. With its festive character and central location in the city centre, the funfair shapes the cityscape for three days and brings a special festive mood to the Hasestadt.
As the last major Volksfest of the year, the Herbstkirmes has a special character: the days grow shorter, the lights of the rides and stalls shine all the more intensely in the evenings, and the scent of roasted almonds, bratwurst, and mulled wine fills the air. The funfair combines classic attractions — carousels, dodgems, shooting galleries — with autumnal specialities and a warm, festive atmosphere that convivially accompanies the end of the season.
The date of the Herbstkirmes traditionally falls on the last weekend of October. In 2023, the funfair took place from October 21st to 23rd, and in 2025 from October 25th to 27th. For 2026, the weekend of October 24th to 26th is likely; the exact date will be confirmed by the City of Haselünne in advance. Its regular recurrence makes the funfair a fixed point in the annual family calendar for many Haselünne residents and visitors from the region.
With its three days of festivities, the Herbstkirmes attracts thousands of visitors from the southern Emsland and surrounding regions. It is an important boost for the city centre and retail trade, a meeting point for families and friends, and a final burst of festive atmosphere before winter sets in. The historic backdrop of the Hasestadt with its well-preserved townhouses, churches, and squares lends the funfair a special charm that distinguishes it from many other autumn funfairs.
The city centre of the Hasestadt transforms for three days into a funfair mile with rides, snack stands, and an autumnal atmosphere. The exact programme — opening hours and special promotions — will be announced by the City of Haselünne in advance.
The exact programme for 2026 will be published by the organiser in autumn. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:

The City of Haselünne publishes current dates and programme details in advance of the event, as well as on Kirmes-Index (kirmes-index.de).
