Autumn Festival at Mainz-Kastel Zoo 2026

The Autumn Festival at Mainz-Kastel Zoo concludes the association's three seasonal festivals. After the Spring Festival (May) and the Summer Festival (July), the Autumn Festival marks the season's end. The venue is the Petersberg Biotope on the outskirts of the Mainz-Kastel district, which is administratively part of Wiesbaden but culturally belongs to the Mainz AKK region.

The 2026 Autumn Festival takes place on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 11 AM to 6 PM. Admission is free; donations are explicitly welcome. They benefit the care of the animals and the maintenance of the grounds, which the Tierpark Mainz-Kastel e.V. carries out exclusively on a voluntary basis.

Autumnal Family Program

The focus of the festival is on encounters with the animals and an autumnal children's program. Donkeys, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry, and small animals can be observed up close. For children, there are game stations, craft activities, and small hands-on activities related to autumn. Snacks, cakes, and drinks are offered on-site.

Petersberg Biotope in Autumn

In September, the Petersberg Biotope displays its autumnal colors. The spacious grounds with trees, meadows, and animal enclosures are an ideal destination for a family outing even in autumn. In good weather, it invites you to linger in the green; in cooler temperatures, the association's offerings of warm drinks provide the necessary warmth.

Season Finale

With the Autumn Festival, the zoo concludes its intensive season of public events. During the winter months, the association concentrates on animal care, grounds maintenance, and internal preparations for the next season.
