Shopping Sunday with Family Flea Market and Live Music at Rathausplatz
Over the years, the Herbstfest Lilienthal has become one of the most important events in the municipality's calendar. On a Sunday in mid-September, the area around the town hall transforms into a lively festival mile. Shops, clubs, restaurants, and citizens jointly offer a day that marks the transition from summer to autumn and invites visitors to stroll, browse, and enjoy.
The core of the festival is the Sunday shopping day. The local retailers in the town center open their doors in the afternoon and present their autumn collections. Many shops complement the offerings with special promotions, discounts, or small tastings, making a stroll down the main street an experience.
A special attraction is the family flea market, where families from the municipality and the surrounding area offer used children's items, toys, books, and clothing. The flea market is explicitly not for commercial traders but thrives on its private character and the interaction between families. For children, selling their own items is often their first market experience.
Bands from the region play on the Rathausplatz throughout the day. The musical spectrum ranges from pop and Schlager to folk and jazz, deliberately chosen to be audience-friendly. The gastronomy is complemented by stalls from regional providers offering seasonal specialties, cakes, bratwurst, and drinks, making the festival grounds a culinary showcase of the town.
The Herbstfest Lilienthal is a family festival in the truest sense. Grandparents, parents, and children alike find their place. Seating, children's activities, and the relaxed alternation between market strolls, music, and breaks ensure that the day remains entertaining for all generations.
On September 20, 2026, Lilienthal's town center will become a festival mile. Shops, market stalls, a stage, and the family flea market will transform Rathausplatz and Hauptstraße into a lively meeting point for the entire community and guests from the Bremen surrounding area.
