Free & Outdoors — Ibbenbüren's Festival Principle

The “heiß & heftig” City Festival has been Ibbenbüren's most important summer music event since 2007 and stands for a clear concept: completely free, completely open-air, completely in the city center. From Friday, July 31 and Saturday, August 1, 2026, three stages around the Neumarkt will fill the city center with a mix of Rock, Pop, and Emerging Acts.

Three Stages, One Festival Mile

The event is spread across three stages in the city center — all within a compact festival mile that you can explore on foot. Several bands alternate on each stage throughout the evening — from established regional acts to newcomers playing their first major stage here.

• Saturday, August 1, 2026: 7:00 PM to 12:30 AM

The Financing Model

The event is financed exclusively through food and beverage sales. Therefore, the organizers explicitly state: please do not bring your own food or drinks. Those who love a festival that doesn't rely on external sponsors or entrance fees should respect this rule — the entire F&B revenue finances the bands and infrastructure. Weapons and knives of any kind are also prohibited.

Application Process for Musicians

Bands that want to play can apply at [email protected] — with band information and audio/video recordings. The festival has a distinct regional focus on bands from Tecklenburger Land, Münsterland, and Osnabrücker Land, supplemented by national headliners.

Ibbenbüren — Crossroads of Tecklenburger Land and Osnabrück

Ibbenbüren is located in the Steinfurt district — a medium-sized city with about 53,000 inhabitants, serving as a transport and economic center between Münster, Osnabrück, and Rheine. The centrally located city center around the Neumarkt is one of the few clearly defined festival venues in the region. With direct train connections at the main station, Ibbenbüren is easily accessible from Münster, Osnabrück, Rheine, and even Bielefeld.
