Traditional parish fair of the Neuwied district Heimbach-Weis with festivities in both historic parts of town
The district of Heimbach-Weis consists of two historic town centers, which today form a single district of Neuwied. Until their incorporation, Heimbach and Weis were two independent communities, each with its own parish, its own clubs, and its own identity. This historical division is still reflected today in the organization of the Kirmes: the St. Margarethen-Kirmes is celebrated in both parts of town, each with its own program.
In Heimbach, the St. Margarethen parish church is the focal point. The festival begins with a festive church service, a procession, and the handover of the Kirmes to the festival committee. Carousels, amusement rides, and food stalls are set up on the Kirmes grounds. A festival tent and a stage provide space for clubs, brass bands, and live bands.
In the Weis district, the Kirmes activities are concentrated around the Luna Park — the historically developed fairground with amusement rides, food stalls, and a festival tent. Traditionally, the larger amusement rides and the younger audience find their place here.
Classically, the Kirmes starts on Friday with the tapping of the keg at 6 p.m. and ends on Monday with the traditional "Vadderdaach" (Father's Day) finale. The economic sponsors are Pro Heimbach-Weis and the local clubs. The parish, carnival associations, sports clubs, and music clubs work together.
Despite belonging to Neuwied, the festival has a distinctly village character. Residents from Heimbach-Weis, friendly clubs from neighboring districts, and guests from the surrounding administrative districts shape the scene. The atmosphere is familiar and cozy.
The exact program for 2026 will be determined by Pro Heimbach-Weis and the local clubs in the summer of 2026. The St. Margarethen parish, the carnival association, and the sports and music clubs share responsibility for the stage program, the parish service, the Kirmes handover, and the Father's Day finale.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the summer of 2026. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
