Over 170 artists open studios and workshops in the Lüneburger Heide — 12th edition
The HeideKulTour is more than a market — it is a spatially distributed showcase of the Lüneburger Heide's art scene. Over five days, spread across two weekends, studios, workshops, galleries, and unusual venues throughout the region open their doors. Visitors can design their own tour, plan routes across multiple locations, and discover not only the artists but also the heathland landscape itself. The official map and printed studio guide make navigation easy — both are available free of charge at the region's tourist information centers.
Over 170 artists will present themselves at the HeideKulTour in 2026. The range is vast: oil, acrylic, and watercolor painting; classical and experimental sculpture in stone, wood, metal, and bronze; glass art using Tiffany and fusing techniques; ceramics and pottery; jewelry made from precious metals, stone, and glass; textile art, felt, and fabric printing; artistic photography; printmaking; book art; new media, and digital art. Many studios offer hands-on stations, workshops for children, and studio demonstrations, making the HeideKulTour attractive for families too.
Beyond just studio visits, many artists invite visitors to concerts, readings, and special culinary programs on the event days. Open-air readings take place in sculpture gardens, jazz and classical trios perform in workshops, and regional specialties are served in courtyards. This creates day trips that combine art, landscape, encounters, and enjoyment.
The HeideKulTour association, which has been organizing the event since 2014 together with the artists, is behind the festival. Over the years, the HeideKulTour has become one of the largest open studio events in Lower Saxony, providing an supra-regional stage for the Lüneburger Heide's art scene. It is accompanied by the Landeszeitung Lüneburg newspaper and supported by the region's municipalities.
The specific focus points and special events for 2026 will be published by the HeideKulTour association about four weeks before the start on the official website. Based on past experience, large sculpture gardens in the Nordheide, several glass art workshops between Lüneburg and Celle, and open-air studio visits in the landscape are usually the most visited locations. Families can find hands-on workshops and child-friendly programs at individual studios. The Landeszeitung Lüneburg traditionally accompanies the event with a special supplement.
The detailed studio directory for 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
