Haus3Hof Open Air Cinema
Summer in the Courtyard — Open-Air Cinema in Hamburg-Altona
2026
About Haus3Hof Open Air
Haus3Hof Open Air — edition 2026
As in previous years, the open-air cinema is planned as a summer series in the HausDrei courtyard. Screening days and film titles are traditionally bundled and published in a summer program — usually mid-June on haus-drei.de and on the festival channels.
The curatorial line remains the same: independent films, documentaries, cult classics, queer films from the B-Movie program. The solidarity tariff system of €2 / 5 / 8 € per screening will be maintained, as will the open spaces of HausDrei as a meeting place and bar.

HausDrei — Altona-Altstadt as a Cultural Hub
The HausDrei Urban Cultural Center at Hospitalstraße 107 is one of the central socio-cultural venues in the Altona district. Located in the Altona-Altstadt district, HausDrei has offered workshops, community work, neighborhood cafés, and cultural programs for decades. The HausDrei courtyard — the "Haus3Hof" in the festival name — is the venue for open-air events in the summer.
A Cooperation with B-Movie
The open-air cinema is programmed in cooperation with B-Movie Cinema, one of Hamburg's most distinguished independent cinemas in St. Pauli. For decades, B-Movie has stood for a consistent program of independent cinema, cult trash classics, documentaries, and queer film — this curatorial signature also shapes the Haus3Hof program.
Independent Cinema Under the Open Sky
The program deliberately avoids multiplex mainstream. Instead of current Hollywood blockbusters, Haus3Hof shows:
- Independent films from Europe and beyond
- Documentaries with a political or social focus
- Cult classics from film history (examples from the past: Pianeta Venere, Gibbi Westgermany)
- Queer films from the B-Movie program
- Hamburg and North German film history
Solidarity Tariff: 2, 5, or 8 Euros
A special social feature is the solidarity tariff system: for each film screening, visitors can choose between three tariffs — €2 (Mini), €5 (Midi), or €8 (Maxi). Each person pays what they can or want to. Those who pay Maxi enable others with less money to participate in cultural life and simultaneously support the work of HausDrei. This is solidarity in practice, without shame.
Atmosphere of a Backyard Cinema
What makes Haus3Hof appealing is not its technical standard, but its atmosphere: a Hamburg backyard with brick and ivy, folding chairs and picnic blankets, the sound of the street in the background, the specific light of a late Hamburg summer evening. The number of seats is limited — arriving early is worthwhile.
