30th Anniversary of the Hasten Neighborhood Festival with Flea Market, Live Music, and Stage Program
If you head north in Remscheid, you'll reach Hasten, one of Remscheid's most traditional districts with around 8,000 inhabitants. Hasten has preserved its own identity: a well-established shopping street along Hammesberger Straße, its own community center, its own school, its own club landscape. Several Hasten events take place in the annual event calendar: the May fair (Maikirmes), the after-work market (Feierabendmarkt), the fire department festival (Feuerwehrfest), the Advent market (Adventsmarkt) — and the annual neighborhood festival as the central summer event.
The Hasten Neighborhood Festival 2026 marks its 30th edition — three decades of uninterrupted summer celebration. An especially expanded program is announced for the anniversary edition. The exact details will be communicated in spring 2026 by IG Hasten; what is clear is that the anniversary celebration will be the highlight of Hasten's summer event tradition to date. More stage acts, expanded culinary variety, and a particularly attractive flea market volume are expected.
The venue is Richard-Lindenberg-Platz, the central Hasten event square named after the Remscheid entrepreneur Richard Lindenberg (co-founder of Stahlwerk Remscheid AG). During the festival days, the main stage with bands from Remscheid and the Bergisches Land will be located here. Classic neighborhood festival catering (sausages, potato pancakes, fries, drinks), beer from the local brewery, stands from Hasten clubs and businesses.
A special feature is the flea market, which runs parallel along Hammesberger Straße and Rudloffstraße — the two central shopping streets of Hasten. Residents and clubs set up stalls, selling bric-a-brac, antiques, clothing, and household items. The flea market attracts visitors from the entire Bergisches Land region — bargain hunters combine their visit to the market with the festival on Richard-Lindenberg-Platz.
The neighborhood festival runs on Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28, 2026. Saturday is the full festival day with an opening in the morning, all-day stage program, and evening festivities. Sunday continues the program with a family morning, children's activities, and a quieter end to the day. The flea market is open on both days.
The festival is organized by IG Hasten, the district's trade and interest association. IG Hasten brings together Hasten retailers, restaurateurs, craftspeople, and clubs. It organizes several district events throughout the year — including the Hasten after-work market (Feierabendmarkt), the May fair (Maikirmes), and the Advent market (Adventsmarkt) — and represents the interests of Hasten's business community to the city of Remscheid. The neighborhood festival is its most personnel-intensive and most visited event.
Remscheid is one of the major cities in the Bergisches Land region (around 110,000 inhabitants) with a vibrant district culture. Each Remscheid district — Lennep, Lüttringhausen, Hasten, Honsberg, Bliedinghausen, Vieringhausen — organizes its own festivals. The Hasten Neighborhood Festival is one of the most established and best-attended in this series of neighborhood festivals. With its 30th anniversary in 2026, it marks a special highlight.
The 30th edition in 2026 marks a special anniversary for the Hasten Neighborhood Festival. IG Hasten is planning an expanded stage program and additional attractions; the exact details will be communicated in spring 2026. The dual structure of a stage festival on Richard-Lindenberg-Platz and a parallel flea market along the two central Hasten shopping streets remains proven — a combination that attracts visitors from the entire Bergisches Land region annually.
The anniversary program will be particularly expanded for the 2026 edition — IG Hasten will communicate exact details in spring 2026.
Admission to the festival and flea market is free. Food, drinks, and flea market purchases are subject to charge on site.
