Three-day arts and crafts market with 50 regional and international artists in the town centre
The Handmade Art Festival Peine goes beyond the classic format of a crafts market. The selected artists are not only sellers but also ambassadors for their disciplines. They explain their techniques, show pieces and host workshop talks that provide insight into the often lengthy process of creating their objects. Thus, the market becomes a meeting space between audience and artists.
Around fifty exhibitors present themselves on the historic market square and in the pedestrian zone. The selection includes regional artists from the greater Peine, Braunschweig and Hanover area as well as international guests from neighbouring countries. Diversity in materials, techniques and styles is the market's trademark: silver and natural stone jewellery, ceramics in functional and sculptural form, hand-spun yarn textiles, leatherwork, glass art, wooden objects, paper design and bookbinding.
Peine's historic market square forms the ideal backdrop for a festival of this kind. The half-timbered houses, the size of the square and its connection to the pedestrian zone create a market atmosphere far from anonymous exhibition halls. Visitors can browse in peace, take their time and pause at the cafés on the market square.
On Saturday, the duo Ma Y Be provides musical accompaniment on the market square between 10:30 am and 2:30 pm. The acoustic live music underscores the relaxed atmosphere and offers an unobtrusive soundtrack to the market hours.
With free admission, opening hours of 11:00 am to 6:00 pm daily and a family-friendly character, the Handmade Art Festival is an offering for the entire region. Anyone looking for individual gifts beyond standard wares will find them here.
Over three days, exhibitors present their work in the town centre. Visitors who want to take their time exploring every stall should plan at least half a day. Workshop talks and small demonstrations complement the sales offering.
The acoustic duo Ma Y Be provides relaxed musical accompaniment on Saturday morning and at midday on the OpenStage on the market square.
