About the Market
The Handgemacht-Markt series is among the most distinguished arts and crafts markets in Northern Germany. In Greifswald, the series is held twice a year — in spring and early autumn. The autumn edition in early September brings young Northern German arts and crafts to the region's most beautiful market square for the second time.
Exhibitors
Around 60 selected exhibitors present fashion, jewellery, ceramics, wood and leather goods, prints, and maritime home accessories. The selection is young, fresh, and modern — fitting for the university city of Greifswald.
Local Context
The Historic Market Square, with its Hanseatic gabled houses and central location in the pedestrian zone, makes the market a weekend meeting point for Greifswald residents and visitors from the region. The surrounding restaurants and cafés invite you to linger between the stalls.
Handgemacht Greifswald Autumn — edition 2026
Three days of arts and crafts and design in early autumn: The 28th edition of the Handgemacht-Markt returns to Greifswald from September 11th to 13th, 2026. Around 60 selected exhibitors will display their work in the Historic Market Square.
The market is characterized by being young, modern, and maritime, attracting a fitting audience from Greifswald's student body, families, and day-trippers from the nearby Bodden coast. A small market gastronomy and the surrounding cafés and restaurants provide refreshments.
