Tradition at the Hahnenkamm

The Hahnenkamm-Fest is one of the fixed dates in Edelsfeld's club life. The festival is organized by the Krieger- und Soldatenverein and the Soldaten- und Reservistenkameradschaft Edelsfeld, who invite their members, families, and guests to the wooded hill southwest of the village.

Course and Atmosphere

The traditional Frühschoppen (morning pint) begins in the late morning, where helpers and guests meet in the clearing. At lunchtime, the characteristic lentil stew with sausage is served, which awakens memories of Bundeswehr times for many visitors. In the afternoon, grilled food, drinks, coffee, and cake complement the offerings. The association thus cultivates a deliberately simple, sociable format without a big stage, but with plenty of room for conversation.

Honors and Customs

An important part of the festival is the honoring of long-standing members of both associations. The Hahnenkamm-Fest thus combines sociability with the preservation of military and civil memory culture in the Oberpfalz region. Models and collector's items related to the Bundeswehr and local customs have also been on display in the past.
