From Fishing Harbour to Festival

Niendorf on the Baltic Sea has been a fishing harbour for centuries – cutters still land their daily catch here today. The Hafenfeeling festival is held every summer directly at the harbour, on the festival meadow, organised by Timmendorfer Strand Niendorf Tourismus GmbH. The concept is a tribute to the area's maritime heritage: stage next to cutter, smoked fish next to live music, harbour tours next to sandcastle building for children.

Three Days of Live Music by the Water

Numerous live bands perform on the festival meadow over three days. A typical programme includes street bands, shanty choirs, cover bands, and singer-songwriter sets. The range of sounds extends from rock classics and pop to maritime songs. On Sunday, a traditional harbour service opens the day, often with a pastor and shanty choir on the pier.

Maritime, Regional, Family-Friendly

The culinary offerings are dominated by North German specialities: smoked fish, shrimp rolls, fried fish, Flensburger Pilsener. Niendorf Harbour – located in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, district of Ostholstein, municipality of Timmendorfer Strand – remains a working harbour during the festival with cutters, sailboats, and fish sales on the quay, lending Hafenfeeling its authentic character.

Summer Highlight on the Lübeck Bay

Timmendorfer Strand Niendorf Tourismus GmbH (TSNT GmbH) has announced Hafenfeeling as one of the highlight events of the 2026 summer calendar. It is part of the wide range of events on the Lübeck Bay and, along with the JazzBaltica festival and other maritime seasonal events, brings the seaside villages between Travemünde and Scharbeutz to life.
