Speicher — Pottery Village with Market Tradition

The town of Speicher, in the Bitburger Land administrative district, has been known for its clay industry for centuries—Speicher pottery enjoys a reputation far beyond the Eifel region. This commercial tradition is also reflected in its market tradition: the Gewerbeverein Speicher e.V. organizes two of the region's most significant market events, the Großer Sommermarkt in June and the Traditional Autumn Market in October.

Diverse Market Offerings

Over fifty exhibitors will present their range at the Sommermarkt 2026. The focus is on regional handicrafts such as pottery, woodwork, and textiles. Additionally, there will be stalls offering Palatinate and Eifel specialties—wine, cheese, sausage, honey, and baked goods—as well as fashion, jewelry, plants, garden decorations, and toys. Consumer advice centers and associations will also be present with information booths.

Shopping Day in Town

During the market, local shops will open their doors for a shopping day. Restaurants and cafés will offer specialties, bakeries will set up tasting stands, and local music groups will provide atmospheric accompaniment on a small stage in the center. A bouncy castle and play activities for children complete the family program.

Organization and Tradition

Behind the market is the Gewerbeverein Speicher e.V., which organizes the event through volunteer commitment. The close integration between local businesses and external exhibitors is what makes the market so appealing and creates an authentic Eifel atmosphere.
