Grand Ammersche Harvest Festival with Low German Theatre and Parade — September 2026
The Grode Ammersche Arntefier — in High German, the Great Ammersche Harvest Festival — is a traditional festival in the Westerscheps district of Edewecht. The organizer is the locally rooted Heimatverein Vergnögde Goodheit (Local Heritage Association 'Happy Goodness'), which hosts the festival annually in September on the grounds in Moorstraße.
The exact date for 2026 will be published by the heritage association in spring/summer 2026. Based on experience, the festival usually takes place on the third or fourth weekend of September. The provisional date will be communicated on the Edewecht Tourism website.
For years, the program has followed the same tried-and-tested highlights — a mix of North German customs and a well-organized folk festival:
Westerscheps is part of the municipality of Edewecht and is considered one of those Ammerland districts where the Low German language and club culture are particularly vibrant. The Arntefier is the annual flagship event for this tradition.
