More than 52 seasons of classical concerts with the Staatsorchester Braunschweig at the Juleum, Brunnentheater, and Mariental Monastery
With over 52 seasons, Grenzenlos Klassik is one of the oldest continuously running classical concert series in southern Lower Saxony. What began as an initiative by dedicated citizens and music lovers has become a cornerstone of Helmstedt's musical life.
The concerts are held in three acoustically and atmospherically outstanding locations. The Juleum, once the Auditorium Maximum of the Academia Julia, offers a magnificent Renaissance hall. The Brunnentheater Bad Helmstedt revives the chamber music tradition of the former spa town. The Mariental Monastery Church adds its unique sacred acoustics to the offerings.
The Staatsorchester Braunschweig is the central ensemble of the series. It shapes a large part of the program with grand symphony concerts, chamber music arrangements from the orchestra, and solo performances by its members. The connection between Braunschweig and Helmstedt has grown historically and is musically fruitful.
In addition to the resident orchestra, internationally active soloists and chamber music ensembles regularly perform as guests. The repertoire ranges from Baroque to Classical, Romantic, and Modern periods, with a particular focus on the core Classical-Romantic repertoire.
A special tradition within the series are the Pentecost concerts in the St. Marienberg Monastery Church. They utilize the high feast days of the church year for particularly festive concert formats, often featuring choir and orchestra.
Tickets are available via the website grenzenlos-klassik.de. Season subscriptions offer access to all concert dates at reduced prices. Students and young visitors benefit from discounts.
The detailed program for the 2025/2026 season, including all concert dates, programs, soloists, and venues, will be published by the organizer on grenzenlos-klassik.de.
The structure follows the proven guidelines of previous years: concerts are spread throughout the season from late summer to early summer, with a focus on the Juleum, supplemented by Pentecost concerts at St. Marienberg and occasional dates at the Brunnentheater Bad Helmstedt and Mariental Monastery.
