20 Bands. One Stage. In the Middle of the Forest — Punk, Hardcore, Metal and Blues-Rock in Siegerland
The Green Hell Festival was founded in 2023 by a group of friends from Siegerland who recognized a specific gap in the region's festival landscape: small metal and punk festivals with a real atmosphere, short distances, and unpretentious vibes. The premiere was a success — bands, authorities, and the audience embraced the concept, and Green Hell has since established itself as a well-kept secret in the West and South German metal and punk scene.
The festival is curatorially strict: each day represents a clear genre. Thursday, June 25th, 2026 is dedicated to Blues, Stoner Rock, and Classic Rock — and admission is free, an inviting start for regional bands and audiences. Friday, June 26th, 2026 brings Punk and Hardcore: loud, fast, direct — with bands like Marathonmann, Born From Pain, and BraZing Bull. Saturday, June 27th, 2026 is Metal Day: Death Metal, Thrash, and Modern Metal take center stage — with headliner Benediction (UK Death Metal since 1989) and Traitor.
A total of 20 bands will perform over three days on a single stage — no rushing between venues, no parallel programming, but full concentration on each act. The location at the Waldsportplatz Lindenberg — a rural sports field in the middle of forests — gives the festival its trademark: simple camping facilities in close proximity, a bar and food stalls on the festival grounds, short distances, an atmosphere like a private summer party.
The town of Freudenberg is located in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district in Siegerland (South Westphalia). The district of Lindenberg is situated in the forest and is accessible via narrow country roads. Those arriving by public transport should take the train to Freudenberg or Siegen and then a taxi or festival shuttle.
Clearly curated three-day enjoyment: each day a genre, one stage, clear identity. “20 Bands. One Stage. In the Middle of the Forest” — the motto sums up the concept. With camping at the festival grounds, a free Thursday opening, and a manageable audience format.
