Street theatre with jesters, comedians, stilt walkers and magicians in Gerolstein city centre on Sunday, March 8, 2026 from 12 PM to 5 PM, with Sunday shopping.
Gerolstein laughs is one of the most popular city centre events in the Eifel town. Several times a year, GeroTeam e.V. transforms the town centre into an accessible theatre landscape with walking acts, street art, and comedy – always combined with Sunday shopping.
The performers are spread throughout the city centre: stilt walkers roam the pedestrian zone, magicians perform close-up tricks in market squares, comedians improvise with passers-by, and costumed characters surprise visitors by fountains or in front of shop windows. There are no fixed stages – the entire centre becomes the performance area.
In addition to the walking acts, local retail shops are open. Fashion, jewellery, Eifel souvenirs, books, toys – Gerolstein's retailers offer a diverse range of products. Cafés and restaurants complement the experience with culinary offerings.
The GeroTeam e.V. association brings together retailers, restaurateurs, service providers, and hoteliers from Gerolstein. The aim is to strengthen the city centre as a shopping and experience destination. With events like Gerolstein laughs, Heimat Shoppen, and the Christmas Treff, the association shapes the town's annual event programme.
The Spring edition 2026 falls on March 8. This early date in the annual calendar marks the start of the outdoor event series in the city centre – with a focus on families, the start of spring, and city marketing. Another edition will follow in June 2026.
With walking acts, magic, comedy, and the safety of a car-free city centre, Gerolstein laughs is an ideal family event – a colourful Sunday in the Eifel.
The Spring edition of Gerolstein laughs 2026 marks the start of the open-air season in the city centre. With its early March date and the combination of walking acts and Sunday shopping, the event attracts a multi-generational audience.
Exact performers and performance locations will be announced by GeroTeam via gerolstein.org and social media.
Gerolstein is accessible via the B410 and B257 federal roads, and by train on the Eifel line from Cologne to Trier (Gerolstein station, hourly service).
