Arts and Crafts Market with Sunday Shopping under the motto Spring Awakening in Vechta's city center
For years, the motto Spring Awakening has combined the classic spring market with the Sunday shopping event in Vechta's city center. With a play on words between nature (Spring Awakening as a theme for plants, gardens, and animals) and a shopping stroll (the city's 'reawakening' after winter), Moin Vechta captures the mood of early spring and makes the weekend a joint kickoff for exhibitors, retailers, and visitors.
The focus is on Arts and Garden Crafts. Exhibitors from the Oldenburger Münsterland and Northern Germany present their workshops: spring plants, perennials, herbs, seeds, floristry, handmade pottery, birdhouses, garden decorations, jewelry, felt and knitted items, wood and ceramic art. The distribution across several central squares and streets in the city center creates an exploratory market topography.
A special feature is the Sunday shopping on April 26th. Vechta's retailers open their stores in addition to the regular Saturday business, complementing the market offerings with special promotions, season openings, and fashion shows. This turns the spring market into a double event of market and shopping weekend.
The organizer is the Marketing Initiative Moin Vechta, which organizes the major city events on behalf of the City of Vechta and local retailers. The Stoppelmarkt, Christmas Market, Spring Market, Summer in the City, and themed weeks all bear the signature of this initiative, which combines city marketing and city management.
The detailed program for 2026, including a list of participating exhibitors, stand locations, and special promotions from retailers, will be published by Moin Vechta shortly before the event on moinvechta.de and vechta.de.
