City festival with Maypole, Street Food and Vintage Cars — April 25th and 26th, 2026
The Friesoyther Maitage are the most traditional city festival in Friesoythe and have been celebrated for almost five decades. The 48th edition in 2026 falls on the last weekend of April — April 25th and 26th. For two days, the city center of this West Oldenburg town transforms into a continuous festival mile, heralding spring with a large, cross-generational community festival.
The 2026 Maitage are clearly structured:
The city center is completely closed during the festival — meaning no car traffic, but space for stalls, stages, performances, and strollers.
A special program highlight is the Street Food Days on Hansaplatz, which begin on Friday evening and provide a culinary start to the city festival. Food trucks from the region and beyond present their specialties — from burgers and pulled pork to vegetarian and vegan options and sweet classics. A format that particularly attracts the younger generation and families.
Three characteristic program elements define the Maitage:
Friesoythe city center. Take the A1 motorway, exit Cloppenburg, then approx. 20 km. Parking in outer parking areas — the city center is completely closed during the festival. By train: Cloppenburg station + bus to Friesoythe.
Free admission. Food and activities are subject to charge.
The Street Food Festival on Hansaplatz opens on Friday evening — ideal for a culinary start to the festival weekend.
