Open-Air Season Opening on Ascension Day with Rock, Folk, and Island Flair
When the first chords ring out in the Rosengarten on Ascension Day, the open-air season officially begins on Wangerooge. The Friesenwoodstock has become a tradition, uniting local island residents with day guests who come over for the holiday.
The musical spectrum ranges from handmade rock to folk and Frisian sounds. Local bands and acts from the East Frisian region perform throughout the day, offering a varied program until the early evening.
Alongside the music program, a flea market is set up in the Rosengarten. Here, collectors, bargain hunters, and lovers of curiosities can find all sorts of bric-a-brac, handicrafts, and island souvenirs.
For the younger island guests, there is a diverse children's program with games, hands-on activities, and crafting opportunities. This makes the Friesenwoodstock a true family festival.
The Rosengarten Wangerooge is a special green space on the island with rose beds, paths, and a peaceful atmosphere. As a festival venue, it offers ample space for a stage, stalls, and picnic areas.
The 2026 edition continues the tradition of ushering in the open-air season on Wangerooge on Ascension Day. With the Rosengarten as its stage, the festival has found a location that is both atmospheric and practically ideal.
The exact band lineup for 2026 will be published by the Kurverwaltung Wangerooge in the spring.
