The free&easy is the big summer festival of the Munich cultural center Backstage – and perhaps the most relaxed festival in Bavaria: 17 days of concerts, parties, films, comedy, talks, and performance art on three indoor stages, an open-air stage, and the entire Backstage grounds. The best part: admission is free. The spectrum ranges from newcomers to established acts, from Indie and Rock to Metal, Hip-Hop, and Electro. The free&easy 2026 runs from July 24 to August 9, 2026, at Backstage Munich – 17 days of free concerts and more. On three indoor stages, an open-air stage, and the open grounds, there will be concerts, parties, comedy, talks, and a night beer garden. Admission is free.

From July 24 to August 9, 2026, the free&easy Festival will take place at Backstage Munich – “17 DAYS OF FREE CONCERTS & MORE!”. Several indoor and outdoor venues on the entire Backstage grounds on Reitknechtstraße will be active simultaneously. In addition to concerts, there will be parties, comedy, talks, and a night beer garden.

Stylistically, the program ranges from Indie, Rock, and Metal to Hip-Hop and Electro – from newcomers to established acts. Admission to the festival is free; reservation tickets are available for selected concerts.

Getting There

Backstage Kulturzentrum, Reitknechtstraße 6, 80639 Munich (Neuhausen-Nymphenburg district). Easily accessible by tram (Steubenplatz / Hirschgarten stop) and via the Hirschgarten S-Bahn station. By car via the Mittlerer Ring; parking is limited.

Admission

Admission to the festival is free. For concerts in the Werk, Halle, and Club venues, paid reservation tickets can be purchased in advance (sometimes including a drink voucher).
