Young wine festival in the Riesling village of Frankweiler on the edge of the Palatinate Forest — 2nd edition at Dagoberthalle and Weinstraße
The Frankweilrer Faldewärschd Feschd is a young Palatinate wine festival that first took place in 2025 and is now entering its second edition in 2026. On August 29 and 30, 2026, the Dagoberthalle and the Weinstraße in the Riesling village of Frankweiler will be transformed into a festival grounds with wine service, Palatinate cuisine, live music, and a relaxed summer atmosphere on the last weekend of August.
The dialect name “Faldewärschd Feschd” alludes to the Palatinate way of life and the verb “faldewärschden” (to rejoice, to be exuberant). Frankweiler is a well-known Riesling village on the edge of the Palatinate Forest, framed by the Vorderpfälzer mountains and the vineyards of the Südliche Weinstraße between Landau and Annweiler.
The Faldewärschd Feschd is a relatively new Palatinate wine festival that the Frankweiler vintners and local clubs first organized in 2025. The 2nd edition in 2026 builds on the success of the premiere and positions itself on the last weekend of August, running parallel to the traditional large wine festivals in Burrweiler, Wollmesheim, and Edenkoben. The format is manageable and focused: two days of wine and conviviality in a pleasant atmosphere.
The Dagoberthalle is the multi-purpose hall of the Frankweiler municipality, serving as the main venue with festival operations, a stage, and an indoor area during the festival. In parallel, the Weinstraße – the local main street – will be activated with serving stands, food stalls, and seating areas. This dual structure allows for a bad-weather program in the hall as well as a summer feeling in the open air.
Frankweiler is considered the Riesling village of the Southern Palatinate. The vineyard sites around the village – with good south and southwest exposures on the edge of the Palatinate Forest – produce mineral-driven, lively Rieslings. During the Faldewärschd Feschd, the Frankweiler vintners will present their Riesling selections, alongside the Burgundy family, cuvées, rosé, and sparkling wines. Palatinate specialties at the food stalls complement the gastronomic offerings.
Frankweiler has around 1,200 inhabitants and is located on the eastern edge of the Palatinate Forest, about 10 km west of Landau. Its location between vineyards and forest makes it a typical Palatinate transition village between the Weinstraße and the Palatinate Forest. Hikers on the Pfälzer Höhenwanderweg regularly pass through Frankweiler, and the Faldewärschd Feschd takes advantage of this location to attract visitors from the entire region.
Two days of Palatinate wine culture in the Riesling village on the edge of the Palatinate Forest. Riesling as the trademark, complemented by the Burgundy family, cuvées, rosé, and sparkling wines. Live music accompanies the evenings. The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
