World music and folklore in the historic alleys of the Heger-Tor-Viertel — August 15, 2026
The Heger-Tor-Viertel is one of the most beautiful corners of Osnabrück's old town: narrow alleys, restored half-timbered houses, small squares, plenty of restaurants. Once a year, the festival Folk im Viertel transforms this quarter into a walkable stage. On August 15, 2026, from 7:30 PM to 11:00 PM, musicians will fill the quarter with world music and folklore from all directions.
Several small stages are spread throughout the quarter — on squares, in courtyards, in front of pubs, and in the Lagerhalle. Those following the festival wander from performance to performance. The concerts are timed to allow easy movement between stages. The Lagerhalle, as the cultural heavyweight of the quarter, offers the largest indoor stage and programs its own headliner set.
The format mixes solo artists for intimate courtyard stages with bands for the larger squares and the Lagerhalle. This diversity allows visitors to choose their own festival choreography.
The festival is jointly supported by two of Osnabrück's most important independent cultural institutions: the association FOKUS e.V. (organizer of the Open Air Cinema and many other formats) and the Lagerhalle Osnabrück (event venue with theater, concerts, and cabaret festival). Free admission — the festival is financed by donations, municipal grants, and voluntary contributions (Hutgeld).
The 2026 edition once again relies on the proven concept: several small stages in the quarter, complemented by an indoor headliner program in the Lagerhalle.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by FOKUS e.V. and Lagerhalle a few weeks before the event. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
Free admission. Voluntary contributions and donations welcome.
