Fiesta Latina Kempten — When the Allgäu Travels to Latin America

In the heart of late summer, Hildegardplatz in Kempten opens its doors for a weekend dedicated to the diversity of Latin America: street food from Mexico to Peru, live music from Cuba, Argentina, and Brazil, a Salsa dance floor under the open sky. Organized by Boa Vista Events, Fiesta Latina is one of the liveliest open-air events in the Allgäu capital.

Kempten — Independent City in the Oberallgäu

With around 70,000 inhabitants, Kempten is the largest city in the Allgäu region and an independent district in the state of Bavaria. Nestled between the foothills of the Alps and the Iller valley, it is considered the economic and cultural center of the region. Hildegardplatz in the city center — named after Saint Hildegard — is regularly used as a central event venue; Fiesta Latina has now become a firm fixture in the late summer program here.

Street Food from Two Continents

The gastronomic offerings cover a wide spectrum of Latin American cuisine:

  • Mexico — Tacos, Burritos, Guacamole, Margaritas
  • Argentina — Empanadas, Chimichurri
  • Brazil — Churrasco (grilled meat), Caipirinhas
  • Venezuela — Arepas (corn cakes), tropical fruit juices
  • Peru — Ceviche, Pisco Sour
  • Sweets — Churros with hot chocolate, Tres Leches cake
  • Vegetarian and vegan alternatives available at most stalls

Music and Dance

The musical programming features a mix of live bands and DJ sets. El Cigarro brings Cuban-influenced Latin Rock; Trio Tabaco y Salsa plays classic Salsa and Bachata for dancing; DJ Carlos takes over on Sunday afternoon with Reggaeton, Salsa, and Latin Pop. An open dance floor invites spontaneous Salsa steps.

Free Admission, Focus on the Joy of Life

Admission to Fiesta Latina is free. Seating, umbrellas, and loungers are available around Hildegardplatz; payment is made on-site at the street food stalls and the bar. The concept focuses on what the organizers call "enjoyment, community, and pure zest for life."
