About Fête de la Musique
The Fête de la Musique was initiated in 1982 by the French Minister of Culture, Jack Lang, and has since spread worldwide. Today, it takes place annually on June 21st in over 540 cities in more than 120 countries. The concept is simple and revolutionary: musicians of all genres and skill levels perform for free in public spaces, and the audience listens for free.
Koblenz
The City of Koblenz officially hosted the Fête de la Musique as a participatory event for the first time in 2023. Since then, the event has quickly become one of the city's most diverse musical gatherings. The fourth edition is planned for 2026.
Concept
On Sunday, June 21st, 2026, the Koblenz city centre will transform into a vibrant stage from 3 PM to 10 PM: bands, singer-songwriters, solo artists, choirs, jazz trios, classical quartets, hip-hop artists, and electronic acts will perform on squares, in alleys, in courtyards, in front of cafés, and in parks. Every event is free, and every performance is equally welcome — the Fête stands for the democratisation of music.
Participation
Bands and musicians can apply for a performance slot and location until April 15th, 2026. Registration is free and open to everyone, from professional bands to hobby music schools. The City's Department of Culture coordinates the allocation of performance spaces and times.
Fête de la Musique — edition 2026
The 2026 edition is designed as an all-day, decentralized music festival. The exact stage locations and performance schedules will be published by the Department of Culture in early June 2026 and communicated via official channels and the website kultur.koblenz.de.

As in previous years, the Fête de la Musique typically includes:
- Venues: Jesuitenplatz, Münzplatz, Am Plan, Zentralplatz, Görresplatz, Old Town courtyards, parks.

- Artists: Regional bands, school orchestras, youth music groups, professional solo artists, music school choirs, hobby combos.
