Concert of the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in St. George's Church Parchim
The Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has existed since 1990 and is considered one of Northern Germany's most significant classical and chamber music festivals. Between mid-June and mid-September, over 100 concerts take place in around 90 venues — from castles and manor houses to barns and churches — spread across the entire state. Artistic Director: Ursula Haselböck (since 2020). Parchim's St. George's Church is a permanent fixture in the festival's venues.
St. George's Church is a late Gothic brick church from the 14th century and one of Mecklenburg's most important sacral buildings. With its striking west tower facade, it shapes Parchim's cityscape. Inside, the high chancel, the late Gothic star vault, and the historic organ gallery offer exceptional acoustics and atmosphere for chamber music and vocal concerts.
On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 7:00 PM, the renowned Sitkovetsky Trio will perform in St. George's Church. The piano trio, led by violinist Alexander Sitkovetsky, is among the leading chamber music ensembles of its generation. The program features classical-romantic repertoire — the exact list of works will be published by Festspiele MV shortly before the concert. The concert is part of the series »Back at Festspiele MV« and an integral part of the cultural program for Parchim's 800th-anniversary celebration.
