When the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern invite you to the ballroom of the Grand Hotel Heiligendamm, top-class chamber music and historical architecture uniquely come together. The concert takes place in the Rostock district, in Heiligendamm – Germany's oldest seaside resort, founded in 1793, on the Baltic Sea coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
A Hall with History
The ballroom of the Grand Hotel Heiligendamm impresses with its marble floor, a ceiling height of around nine metres, and neoclassical décor. The Grand Hotel, a partner and venue for the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern since its reopening in 2003, is one of the most distinguished addresses on the German Baltic Sea coast. The festive atmosphere of the hall makes every concert a special experience.
One of Europe's Largest Classical Music Festivals
The Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern were founded in 1990 and quickly developed into one of Europe's most important classical music festivals. Every summer, around 190 events take place at more than 80 venues throughout the state – from castles and manor houses to churches, barns, and historic hotel ballrooms. Around 250 artists from all over the world shape the programme.

The festival concert at the Grand Hotel Heiligendamm takes place on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 7:00 PM in the historic ballroom. It is part of the 2026 festival summer of the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, which is dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the festival.
During the 2026 festival summer, around 250 artists will perform in approximately 190 events at more than 80 venues throughout the state. Before the concert, a guided tour of the history and present of the Grand Hotel Heiligendamm will be offered at 5:30 PM.

Getting There
Heiligendamm is located about 6 km from Bad Doberan in the Rostock district. The narrow-gauge railway »Molli« provides easy access from Bad Doberan and Kühlungsborn. By car, follow the signs to Heiligendamm; parking is available on the outskirts of the town.

Tickets for concerts of the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern are available through the festival ticket shop, by phone at 0385 591 85 85, and at known advance booking offices. For sold-out concerts, you can be added to a waiting list by emailing [email protected].
Tip
