Classical Music in the Splendour of the Biedermeier Era

When the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern invite you to the ballroom of the Grand Hotel Heiligendamm, top-class chamber music and historical architecture uniquely come together. The concert takes place in the Rostock district, in Heiligendamm – Germany's oldest seaside resort, founded in 1793, on the Baltic Sea coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

A Hall with History

The ballroom of the Grand Hotel Heiligendamm impresses with its marble floor, a ceiling height of around nine metres, and neoclassical décor. The Grand Hotel, a partner and venue for the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern since its reopening in 2003, is one of the most distinguished addresses on the German Baltic Sea coast. The festive atmosphere of the hall makes every concert a special experience.

One of Europe's Largest Classical Music Festivals

The Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern were founded in 1990 and quickly developed into one of Europe's most important classical music festivals. Every summer, around 190 events take place at more than 80 venues throughout the state – from castles and manor houses to churches, barns, and historic hotel ballrooms. Around 250 artists from all over the world shape the programme.
