The Großbeeren associations showcase their work — village community at the Old Manor Courtyard
Großbeeren is located in the Teltow-Fläming district, directly south of Berlin and just a few kilometers from the outskirts of the capital. The municipality became historically known for the Battle of Großbeeren on August 23, 1813 — Prussian troops under General Bülow stopped Napoleon's advance on Berlin here. Today, this history shapes the municipality not only with the Victory Monument and the Local History Museum but also with an active association landscape that cultivates tradition and community. The Festival of the Associations is an expression of this vibrant community life.
The Großbeeren Organizing Committee is a voluntary body that brings together associations, initiatives, and the municipality. With the Festival of the Associations, it creates a day on which the residents of Großbeeren can learn about the offerings of their local associations — from sports clubs and cultural associations to social welfare organizations like the DRK. This bundling is particularly important for newcomers: Großbeeren is growing rapidly, and many young families are looking for connections to community life.
The festival venue is the Old Manor Courtyard behind the town hall. The manor is a historic ensemble that documents Großbeeren's agricultural past and now hosts events and cultural activities. The atmosphere — old brick walls, cobblestones, a wide meadow — perfectly matches the character of a village community festival.
The festival begins at 2 p.m. Around 30 associations will set up information booths, present their activities, offer hands-on activities, and recruit new members. Between 3 and 5 p.m., stilt walkers will roam the grounds, and for children, there will be a bouncy castle, target shooting, face painting, and craft stations. DJ Detmar Jarosch will provide musical accompaniment from the afternoon onwards. Food and drinks — grilled items, cakes, beverages — will be offered by the associations themselves. The festival runs until late evening.
On Saturday, June 14, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m., the Großbeeren Organizing Committee invites you to the community festival at the Old Manor Courtyard behind the town hall. Around 30 associations — sports clubs, volunteer fire department support association, cheerleaders, church communities, DRK residential home, cultural and heritage association — will present their work.
