Several cabaret and small arts evenings at the Pumpwerk in autumn
The Festival of Small Arts is one of the oldest continuously maintained small arts series in Northern Germany. 32 editions mean 32 years of curatorial work at the Pumpwerk Wilhelmshaven — a consistency that has become rare in the cultural landscape. Over the decades, the festival has brought numerous prominent stage stars to Wilhelmshaven while simultaneously promoting regional artists. This makes it not only an entertainment format but also an important contribution to the promotion of small arts and cabaret in Northern Germany.
Unlike some festivals that fill a single weekend, the Festival of Small Arts is spread over several weeks in September and October. Each evening can be ticketed independently, but the overall programme forms a curated unit. This format gives the audience the opportunity to specifically attend individual acts or to experience the entire series as a regular attendee.
Among the 2026 programme highlights is Jens-Heinrich Claassen with his current programme “Ohne Liebe rostet nichts” (Nothing rusts without love) on October 17th. In addition, Dr. Pop offers a musical-comedy special titled “hitverdächtig” (hit-worthy) — a mix of music history, pop analysis, and stage comedy. Further acts will be communicated by the Pumpwerk through the season's programme. Those who appreciate small arts and cabaret will find the Festival of Small Arts a reliable address.
The 32nd edition continues a remarkable tradition. The festival is a central element of Wilhelmshaven's autumn culture and offers a cross-section of the current small arts scene every year.
Each evening can be booked individually. Regular attendees can subscribe to the entire series, while others choose specifically based on artist or date.
The exact 2026 programme with all dates and acts will be published by Pumpwerk Wilhelmshaven. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
