Nine Thursday evenings of open-air music at Trischendiek Park — free entry, 20 years old
The Festival am Deich has been an integral part of the Friedrichskoog summer since 2007. What began as a small beach hotel concert has evolved into a concert series spread over nine Thursday evenings throughout the summer – from early July to the end of August. In 2026, the Festival am Deich will celebrate its 20th anniversary.
The concept is wonderfully simple and well-established: Every Thursday from early July to August 31st, a different band performs in Trischendiek Park in Friedrichskoog-Spitze. Free entry, open-air, right on the dike with a view of the Wadden Sea. The children's disco starts at 6:00 PM, and the live band takes over at 7:30 PM, playing late into the evening. A cocktail bar, fish & chips, and a pirate playground ensure a relaxed festival atmosphere.
Friedrichskoog is a municipality with around 2,500 inhabitants in the south of the Dithmarschen peninsula, in the Dithmarschen district of the state of Schleswig-Holstein. The district of Friedrichskoog-Spitze is located directly at the entrance to the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park — a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. It is precisely here, at Trischendiek Park, that the festival takes place: dike, salt marshes, sheep, and beyond them, the mudflats.
The Festival am Deich is a meeting point for summer holidaymakers on the west coast and locals from Friedrichskoog, Marne, and Brunsbüttel. It's family-friendly and relaxed, not a mass event, but a recurring summer highlight for the entire region.
The 2026 program, according to the Friedrichskoog Tourism Service, includes nine concert evenings, making it one of the most extensive editions in the festival's history. Admission remains traditionally free, and the event format (6 PM kids' disco, 7:30 PM main band) is unchanged.
The event is organized by the Friedrichskoog Tourism Service in cooperation with the municipality of Friedrichskoog. The concept has been successful for nearly two decades – the region has grown accustomed to the call of the Deich festival on summer Thursdays.
Order and dates according to the Friedrichskoog Tourism Service on the official festival website. For the current detailed program and short-term changes, see friedrichskoog.de.
