International Volksfest with 12 country stands, play street, and morning pint concert
Wincheringen is located on the Upper Moselle, right on the border with Luxembourg. The village's population is now more international than its geographical location alone might suggest: families from numerous countries live here, many in the second generation. This cultural diversity gave rise to the Fest der Nationen – a Volksfest (traditional folk festival) held once a year, where the people of Wincheringen present their countries of origin culinarily and culturally.
In 2026, stands from twelve countries will present their specialties: Belgium, Germany, England, Italy, Canada, Kenya, Luxembourg, Poland, Scotland, Sweden, Spain – and more. The culinary spectrum ranges from Belgian fries to Kenyan rice dishes and Scottish shortbread. Typical drinks from the countries of origin are also served – a colorful, accessible format for intercultural encounters.
A play street provides children's entertainment: bouncy castle, classic games, and creative stations. An art studio invites participation. Musically, the Moselland-Kapelle Wincheringen opens the festival at 11:30 AM with a Frühschoppenkonzert (morning pint concert) – typical of Rhineland-Palatinate festival culture and an ideal start for wine with lunch.
The organizer is the IHKW, the International Homeland and Cultural Association Wincheringen. Its goal is to make intercultural coexistence in the village visible – the Fest der Nationen is its best-known format. The character is clearly village-like, cordial, and non-commercial: no large stages, no entrance fees, but rather encounters at the stands and tables.
The 2026 festival is supported by the IHKW (International Homeland and Cultural Association Wincheringen) and its partners. The program structure remains stable compared to previous years; individual country stands may vary depending on the availability of the hosting families.
The exact list of stands and the musical program for the day will be announced by the association via the event page of the municipality of Wincheringen.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the organizer in spring/summer. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
