About Fest der Kulturen Peine

The Fest der Kulturen Peine is an annual manifestation of lived diversity in the district town of Peine. At the market square and in the city center, migrant associations, international initiatives, churches, mosques, schools, and cultural associations present their work, food, music, and dances. Stage performances from African, Latin American, Southern European, Southeast Asian, Middle Eastern, and Eastern European cultural circles alternate with information stands providing information on volunteering, educational projects, and integration. The event is organized by the initiative Peiner Bündnis für Toleranz, an alliance of civil society actors from the district of Peine.

A City Celebrates Its Diversity

Peine is now a city with a vibrant intercultural reality: around 50,000 inhabitants from numerous countries of origin live here together. The Fest der Kulturen makes this reality visible, audible, and tangible for one day. It is a celebration of togetherness that consciously focuses on encounter and exchange.

Program Structure

The day follows a three-part structure:

  • Stage Program on a central stage at the market square: Concerts, dance groups, choirs, and music ensembles from various cultural circles
  • Information Mile along the city center: Stands of associations, initiatives, and religious communities
  • International Food Mile: Culinary offerings from around the world, often in small portions, allowing for multiple tasting experiences

Sponsorship and Mission

Behind the festival is the Peiner Bündnis für Toleranz, a loose association of clubs, initiatives, churches, schools, and committed individuals. The alliance advocates for open, diverse, and respectful coexistence and uses the festival to make this attitude tangible to the public.

Program Focus

In addition to the stage program, hands-on workshops, dance animations, children's programs, lectures, readings, and film screenings are part of the profile. The market square itself serves as the central meeting point – with all generations, skin colors, languages, and religions that shape modern Peine.

Fest der Kulturen Peine — edition 2026

On Saturday, June 6, 2026, Peine's market square will once again transform into a stage for diversity. The Fest der Kulturen brings together migrant associations, international initiatives, schools, churches, and cultural associations to present their work, music, dances, and cuisine. On the central stage, concerts, dance groups, and choirs from various cultural circles alternate; along the city center, stands provide information on educational projects, integration, and community engagement. The international food mile invites visitors to sample the offerings. The organizer is the Peine Alliance for Tolerance. Admission is free.
