A City Celebrates Its Diversity
Peine is now a city with a vibrant intercultural reality: around 50,000 inhabitants from numerous countries of origin live here together. The Fest der Kulturen makes this reality visible, audible, and tangible for one day. It is a celebration of togetherness that consciously focuses on encounter and exchange.
Program Structure
The day follows a three-part structure:
- Stage Program on a central stage at the market square: Concerts, dance groups, choirs, and music ensembles from various cultural circles
- Information Mile along the city center: Stands of associations, initiatives, and religious communities
- International Food Mile: Culinary offerings from around the world, often in small portions, allowing for multiple tasting experiences
Sponsorship and Mission
Behind the festival is the Peiner Bündnis für Toleranz, a loose association of clubs, initiatives, churches, schools, and committed individuals. The alliance advocates for open, diverse, and respectful coexistence and uses the festival to make this attitude tangible to the public.
Program Focus
In addition to the stage program, hands-on workshops, dance animations, children's programs, lectures, readings, and film screenings are part of the profile. The market square itself serves as the central meeting point – with all generations, skin colors, languages, and religions that shape modern Peine.
