Award-winning Wine Festival – weekly Thursday evenings in May and June rotating through the municipalities of the VG Wöllstein
The VinoGeneration is an association of young vintners from the Wöllstein administrative district in western Rheinhessen. The initiative was founded to make the upcoming generation of vintners visible, to engage in joint marketing, and to develop innovative event formats that complement the traditional wine festival concept. The Feieroomend is one of the most successful results of this collaboration.
The concept is simple and brilliant: Instead of a concentrated wine festival weekend requiring significant organizational effort, the Feieroomende are spread over several weeks on individual Thursday evenings, each in a different municipality of the VG Wöllstein. The word 'Feieroomend' (Rheinhessen dialect for 'end of the workday') refers to the uncomplicated after-work atmosphere of the event: Anyone who has finished work can come to the nearest Feieroomend, enjoy a glass of wine, sample small dishes, and let the evening wind down in a relaxed atmosphere.
The VG Wöllstein comprises several wine-growing municipalities, including Wöllstein itself, Siefersheim, Stein-Bockenheim, Eckelsheim, Wonsheim, and others. Throughout May and June, the Feieroomend rotates through these municipalities. For visitors, this offers the opportunity to explore different locations within the VG over the weeks – each with its own atmosphere, its own vintners, and its own specialties. Attending multiple events provides a comprehensive impression of the wine region.
The Feieroomend carries the official 'Ausgezeichnet Weinfest' seal from Rheinhessenwein e.V. – an award given only to wine festivals that meet strict quality criteria: quality of the wines served, competence of the servers, atmospheric setting, culinary accompaniment, and hospitality. This award is all the more remarkable as the Feieroomend format, with its weekday atmosphere and mobility between municipalities, represents an unusual type of wine festival.
The exact dates and locations for 2026 will be published by the VinoGeneration. Experience shows that the Feieroomende take place every Thursday in May and June, with additional dates on public holidays (starting earlier at 4 PM instead of 6 PM on public holidays).
