Feierabendmarkt on Hindenburgstraße — relax into Thursday evening

The Feierabendmärkte of the City of Remscheid are a popular format in the municipal event series: spread across seven Thursdays during the summer months, they take place in different city districts. The Feierabendmarkt Remscheid-Innenstadt will be held in 2026 on Thursday, August 6, starting at 5 PM on Hindenburgstraße — the central shopping street of Alt-Remscheid. The format is clear: regional products, live music, children's program, and relaxed get-togethers after work.

The Feierabendmärkte 2026 — seven dates in the Bergisches Land

The Remscheid Feierabendmarkt series 2026 includes seven dates, always on Thursdays starting at 5 PM:

• June 25 — Lüttringhausen, Rathaus
• July 9 — Süd, Johann-Vaillant-Platz
• July 23 — Hasten, Richard-Lindenberg-Platz
• August 6 — Innenstadt, Hindenburgstraße (this market)

The distribution across several city districts gives each neighborhood its own edition — the city center gets the August date, traditionally a highlight of the season.

Format — relaxed neighborhood market

The Feierabendmarkt is explicitly not a classic weekly market. Instead of early morning hours, it starts on Thursday evenings from 5 PM — perfect for grabbing a snack right after work, enjoying a glass of wine or beer, and meeting acquaintances. The assortment includes:

• Regional products: Bergisches Land specialties, bread, cheese, sausage, honey
• Food for on-site consumption: tapas, finger food, bratwurst, vegan options
• Drinks: wine, beer, cocktails, soft drinks
• Live music on a small stage — mostly local bands and solo artists
• Children's program with activities and games

Hindenburgstraße Innenstadt — the stage

Hindenburgstraße is the main axis of Remscheid's city center — a pedestrian zone, shopping street, and also the venue for the large Pfingsttrödel (Whitsun Flea Market) annually (39th edition in 2026). During the Feierabendmarkt on August 6, a section will be used for stalls, the stage, and seating. The mix of a promenade and market atmosphere makes Thursday evening a small summer break in the middle of the city.

Remscheid — City of Tools in the Bergisches Land

Remscheid is located in southeastern North Rhine-Westphalia, in the Bergisches Land — known as the “City of Tools” because many German tool brands (Stahlwille, Wera, Gedore) have their roots here. A small major city with approx. 110,000 inhabitants, a traditional town center, and a constantly growing gastronomic scene. The Feierabendmarkt is part of the city's efforts to promote the attractiveness of the city center.
