Monthly evening market at Paradeplatz with regional products and live music
The concept of the Feierabendmarkt (after-work market) has become established in many German medium-sized towns in recent years: Instead of classic morning weekly markets, which don't fit well with the workday, stalls open in the late afternoon and evening, combining shopping with socializing. The Germersheim Feierabendmarkt is a successful model of this concept and has been a regular fixture in the city's calendar for years.
The Paradeplatz is Germersheim's central square with historical substance from the Bavarian fortress era. In the 19th century, troops paraded here; today, the square is a vibrant meeting point for the fortress city. The Feierabendmarkt utilizes this extraordinary setting to create a special atmosphere – open-air stalls, live music against a historic backdrop, and convivial tables and benches.
Around 24 stalls make up the market. The focus is on regional products: Palatinate wine, honey, cheese, sausages, organic vegetables, baked goods, pralines, liqueurs, olive oil, and handicrafts. Food stalls with hot dishes – Flammkuchen, burgers, pasta, crepes – complement the offerings. Live music with changing bands provides the evening ambiance.
The August date is cancelled in 2026 due to the major city anniversary program celebrating the 750th anniversary of the granting of city rights. The dates are March 19, April 16, May 21, June 18, July 16, September 17, and October 15, 2026 – always the third Thursday of the month. Seven market dates per year make the Feierabendmarkt a regular event in Germersheim's calendar.
The complete 2026 program will be published by the City of Germersheim on germersheim.eu. The key points (seven market dates, no August due to anniversary, 24 stalls, 4 PM–9 PM) are confirmed by official city communications, the Wochenblatt reporter, and Pfalz-Express.
