About Federweißermeile
Federweißermeile — edition 2026
As every year, the tourism association uses the harvest weekend for the Federweißermeile. Restaurants, wine shops, and vintners in the region open their courtyards, serve young wine and autumn wine, and provide culinary accompaniment to the day. The program will continue «in the usual format».

Federweißermeile — when the Elbe wine villages celebrate the harvest festival
The Saxon Elbe wine villages around Diesbar-Seußlitz form Germany's northernmost wine-growing region. On the south-facing slope of the Elbe, between Meißen and Riesa, Pinot Blanc, Müller-Thurgau, Riesling, and Goldriesling thrive on loess soils, warmed by the river. The Federweißermeile celebrates the connection between the grape harvest, landscape, and village community in September.
The concept is simple and precisely for that reason effective: Vintners open their courtyards and wine shops along a route through the wine villages, serving young Federweißer and autumn wines, and offering regional dishes to accompany them. There is no central main stage, but rather a movement through the wine village — those who wish can walk from courtyard to courtyard, with tastings and breaks along the way.
The «Schlendernde Weinverkostung»
Those who prefer a more structured experience can book the «Schlendernde Weinverkostung»: A guided tour visits four wineries, each with its own tasting, and concludes with the traditional fireworks on Sunday evening. Price 2026: €65 per person, departure at 5 PM from the Haus des Gastes. Limited spots, advance registration via the tourism association.
Pumpkin Competition and Fireworks
A recurring highlight is the pumpkin competition: Volunteers receive seedlings from Weingut Jan Ulrich and Landgasthof «Zum Ross» before summer and grow their competition pumpkins. On Sunday, the winners are crowned in two categories (adults and children), with cakes and vouchers. The event concludes with fireworks over the Elbe — an image that distinguishes the Federweißermeile from other wine festivals.
Saxon Elbe Region
Diesbar-Seußlitz is a district of the municipality of Nünchritz in the Meißen district, located directly on the Elbe. The region between Meißen and Riesa is one of Saxony's travel insider tips: small wine villages, the Elbe Cycle Route, the porcelain city of Meißen, Hirschstein Castle. Visitors to the Federweißermeile should plan for more than just a day trip.
