60+ families open their driveways for a large neighbourhood flea market
The Fedderwarden Village Flea Market is one of those formats that captivate with their simplicity and originality. Instead of a central flea market square, over 60 families open their own driveways, garages, and front gardens, selling whatever they want to get rid of — from clothing, toys, books, tools, and household items to antiques and curiosities. This transforms the entire village of Fedderwarden into a treasure hunt landscape, where visitors can stroll, browse, haggle, and chat.
The choice of date — the bridge day after Ascension Day — is a clever one: many Wilhelmshaven residents have the day off, the weather is usually pleasant, and the day is perfect for a relaxed family outing. The flea market attracts visitors from all over Wilhelmshaven and the surrounding communities. As the stalls are spread throughout the entire village, there are no crowds or jostling — those who stroll patiently will discover surprising treasures.
The flea market is organised by the initiative “Hand in Hand für Fedderwarden”, a voluntary association of committed residents. The proceeds from stall fees and refreshments go to the village community centre, which serves as the social hub of the neighbourhood. Thus, the flea market is not only a bargain hunter's paradise but also a contribution to strengthening the neighbourhood's structure and community cohesion.
The 2026 edition continues the successful concept. Registrations for participating families are managed by the citizens' association and the initiative.
The flea market is an expression of vibrant neighbourhood engagement, turning Fedderwarden into a showcase of civic initiative for one day.
The village flea market is a decentralised format without a fixed programme. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
