Annual village festival by the Fedderwarden Citizens' Association with changing themes
For years, the Fedderwarden Citizens' Association (Bürgerverein Fedderwarden e.V.) has been the driving force behind village cohesion in the district. The annual village festival is one of its most important projects and exemplifies the significance of voluntary association work for the quality of life in a district. Members organize the festival with long lead times, coordinate associations and program items, arrange for the stage, festival tent, and catering, and set up the grounds with their own hands.
A special feature of the village festival is its changing themes. In some years, the festival has been themed "Friesenwies'n" with North German-Bavarian influences, other years have featured comic heroes, or focused on maritime connections. This variability gives the festival a new character each year and provides points of connection for the design of the stage, food, and association stands.
The program is explicitly family-friendly. Play activities for children, craft sessions, a bouncy castle, face painting, and association stands with interactive activities ensure a varied children's program. For adults, there is live music on stage, a gastronomic offering with bratwurst, fries, coffee and cake, and cold draft beer. The Fedderwarden Village Festival is a typical example of North German district culture – warm, voluntarily supported, and for the community.
The 2026 edition falls on the second Saturday in June. The Citizens' Association selects the theme and puts together the program in collaboration with the participating associations, schools, and church communities.
The Fedderwarden Village Festival is explicitly a district festival – warm, familial, and community-building. Former residents often return for this day.
The exact program for 2026 – theme, stage acts, association stands – will be published by the Fedderwarden Citizens' Association (Bürgerverein Fedderwarden e.V.) in due course. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
