Carnival Evening of the Karnevalsfreunde Pelmer Ulkvögel e.V. in the Pelm Community Hall on January 24, 2026, from 8:11 PM
The Fastelowend session of the Pelmer Ulkvögel on January 24, 2026, is one of the first carnival evening highlights in the northern Vulkaneifel carnival calendar. Punctually at 8:11 PM — the traditional fool's evening hour — the stage in the Pelm Community Hall opens. "Fastelowend" is the Eifel dialect form of the term "Fastnacht" (Carnival) and stands for the region's traditional carnival evening culture, which unfolds in club evenings between mid-January and Ash Wednesday.
The association Karnevalsfreunde Pelmer Ulkvögel e.V. is the organizer of the session and shapes the carnival events in Pelm and the surrounding area. Pelm is located in the Vulkaneifel district near Gerolstein and is part of the dense carnival network of the northern Eifel. The Ulkvögel maintain their own session program, which continues after the Fastelowend session in January with a Kappensitzung, children's carnival, and a parade in February 2026.
The Fastelowend session follows the classic structure of an Eifel carnival session. Dance performances by the club's own troupes form the core, complemented by satirical speeches with local relevance, sketches from club life, musical interludes with carnival classics, and a grand finale. Those who wish to experience Eifel carnival in a more manageable, very personal form will find an authentic performance in Pelm.
The Pelmer Ulkvögel are closely networked with friendly associations in the region — especially with the Kylltalnarren Jünkerath. Representatives of friendly clubs often attend many sessions as guests on stage, offering greetings or show performances. This networking ensures a vibrant carnival life throughout the Vulkaneifel and makes the individual club evenings meeting points for carnival enthusiasts from several towns at once.
The Fastelowend session runs as a four- to five-hour evening event with several program blocks and intermissions. Starting at 8:11 PM with the entrance procession, followed by dance and fool's contributions in quick succession.
The exact program for 2026 will be communicated by the Pelmer Ulkvögel in advance via ulkvoegel.de and kylltalnarren.de.
