In 2026, the return was successful: carnival clubs and committed citizens have revived the parade, thereby revitalizing an important local tradition.

Palatinate Fastnacht in the border town

Maximiliansau is a district of Wörth and lies directly on the Rhine, separated only by the Rhine bridge from Baden's Karlsruhe. This special location also shapes the carnival parade: Palatinate and Baden carnival traditions meet, and many people from Karlsruhe come across the bridge to watch. The parade winds through the town center of the district and attracts several thousand spectators.

Program and Schedule

The start is at 2:11 PM (the classic carnival time – eleven minutes past the hour) in the town center of Maximiliansau. Floats, music groups, and masked figures parade through the town. Afterwards, the carnival clubs continue their club evenings in the local festival halls, and the town center remains lively.

Maximiliansau and Wörth

Maximiliansau, with around 6,500 inhabitants, is one of the largest districts of Wörth am Rhein. Its location on the Rhine, direct connection to the Karlsruhe transport axis, and close ties to the city of Wörth make the district an independent center of life. The revived carnival parade is an important element of this independence.
