Palatinate Fasching parade through the wine village of Insheim on the Sunday of Fasching week
The Fasching parade in Insheim is the largest carnival event in the small Palatinate wine community located between Landau and Bad Bergzabern. On Sunday, February 15, 2026, the parade starts at 1:11 PM at the corner of Hutbrunnenstraße/Hauptstraße and proceeds along Hauptstraße, Zeppelinstraße, and Kettelerstraße through the village center.
The parade is supported by an alliance of local clubs and is open to external participants from the entire Bergzaberner Land region. The registration form is available from the municipality of Insheim. The carnival season in the Bergzaberner Land is spread across several locations – Insheim has its fixed place on Fasching Sunday.
Insheim is a wine-growing community with around 1,600 inhabitants in the VG Herxheim, located between Landau in der Pfalz and Bad Bergzabern. Its position on the Südliche Weinstraße shapes its economic and social life. During Fasching, this quiet wine village transforms into a carnival stronghold, attracting visitors from the entire Bergzaberner Land.
The parade forms up from midday on Hutbrunnenstraße. Precisely at 1:11 PM, the procession begins, taking the route Hauptstraße – Zeppelinstraße – Kettelerstraße. Along the route, Insheim residents and visitors from surrounding areas line the streets. Residents serve wine, beer, and Palatinate specialties.
Insheim clubs, local businesses, and guest clubs from the Bergzaberner Land form floats, walking groups, and music groups. Themed floats, dance troupes, and Guggenmusik bands from the region provide the musical accompaniment. The municipality of Insheim accepts registrations for parade participants.
The Insheim parade is part of a busy Fasching season in the Bergzaberner Land. The day before (Saturday, February 14, 2026), the KG Hameckia in Bad Bergzabern hosts a gala session. On the same Sunday, the Gaudiwurm Dahn takes place, and on Rose Monday, the Annweiler jesters parade through the Trifelsstadt. Those spending the weekend in the Southern Palatinate can combine several parades.
Assembly from midday, parade starts promptly at 1:11 PM. Along the route, Insheim residents and visitors line the streets, with locals serving wine, beer, and Palatinate specialties. After the parade, the event concludes with street carnival and parties in the club halls. The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the spring.
