Private rock and metal festival in the countryside near Schleswig
The Fahrdorf Open Air (F:O:A for short) is everything that large rock festivals are not: small, personal, exclusive. It is held on private grounds in the municipality of Fahrdorf – a village of 1,500 inhabitants in the district of Schleswig-Flensburg, directly on the southern shore of the Schlei near Schleswig. The organizers describe the festival as a "garden party with a difference": rock and metal fans meet for three days in a relaxed atmosphere, with short distances between the stage, camping, and amenities.
A maximum of 250 visitors are admitted – registration required, no open ticket sales. The family-like size allows for what is no longer possible at large festivals: direct contact between bands and the audience, joint campfire sessions, personal conversations with the musicians after their performances. The all-inclusive ticket covers admission, camping, and drinks.
F:O:A primarily presents Rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Folk Metal, and Symphonic Rock. In previous years, bands such as Tri State Corner, Lacrimas Profundere, Todsünde, and Aeonblack have performed on stage. Most acts come from German-speaking countries, some from Scandinavia.
Fahrdorf is located in the south of the Schleswig-Flensburg district, the northernmost district of Schleswig-Holstein. Its location on the water, the nearby Viking city of Haithabu, and its connection to Schleswig make the festival location attractive for travelers who want to combine the festival with a short break on the Schlei.
The 2026 edition runs for four days: arrival and camping from Thursday, stage program from Friday to Sunday. Thursday begins with campsite setup from 12 p.m., the stage program starts at 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, the music plays from 1 p.m. onwards.
The maximum of 250 spots are allocated exclusively by advance registration. The all-inclusive ticket bundles admission, camping, and drinks – no cash on site, no additional costs.
Further bands will be announced by the organizer closer to the date. From previous years, bands like Aeonblack, Todsünde, and Lacrimas Profundere are in the extended circle of the festival and may perform again.
