20th Anniversary Edition — Europe's leading festival for Progressive and Tech Metal in Cologne
The Euroblast Festival is one of the most important specialist festivals in the international metal scene and has long been a must-attend event for fans of Progressive Metal, Tech Metal, Math Metal, and Death Metal. In 2026, the festival celebrates its 20th anniversary edition — from September 25th to 27th at the traditional Essigfabrik Cologne (Siegburger Straße 110, Cologne-Deutz). Over three days, more than 40 bands will perform a dense program on multiple stages, unmatched anywhere else in the world — no other European festival curates Progressive Metal with this depth and breadth.
Plus 30+ more bands from the European Progressive Metal scene. Full line-up list, stage splits, and set times at euroblast.net.
One of the most important arguments for Euroblast: the festival is curated to minimize parallel sets. Anyone who loves Progressive Metal wants to see every band — and Euroblast actually makes this possible (unlike many major festivals).
Unlike Wacken or Summer Breeze, Euroblast is indoors and manageable — the Essigfabrik accommodates fewer than 1,500 visitors per floor. Workshops, merchandise stands, and artist meet-and-greets are commonplace. Many bands have their most loyal fanbase here and take time for signing sessions.
The festival has operated with the same concept since 2008: a haven for progressive music of today, yesterday, and tomorrow. Virtuosic, experimental, and boundary-pushing music from Prog, Tech, and Death Metal — always with space for newcomers alongside established acts.
The Essigfabrik in Cologne-Deutz is a former industrial building (vinegar production until 1985), which has served as a concert and event venue since the 2000s. Raw industrial architecture, brick walls, high ceilings — a location perfectly suited for metal concerts. Its direct location on Deutz Harbour and excellent public transport links make it one of Cologne's most popular event locations for genre festivals and concerts with a subcultural appeal.
Cologne-Deutz is located on the right bank of the Rhine in Cologne, directly opposite the Old Town with the Cathedral and Central Station. The Hohenzollern Bridge connects both sides within a five-minute walk. Deutz is home to the Lanxess Arena, the Tanzbrunnen, the Koelnmesse trade fair, and a growing cultural scene. The Essigfabrik is one of the defining indoor venues in Deutz, Cologne.

Featuring Decapitated, Haken, and Textures as headliners, and a dense supporting program from the European and American Prog Metal scene.

Study the stage split early — with 40+ bands, planning is worthwhile. Stage conflicts are minimized but not zero. Visit merchandise stands during the day too (bands often do signings).
