Four-day wine festival in the Palatinate wine village of Eschbach with fruity wines and sparkling wines from Eschbach vintners
The Eschbach Wine Festival is one of the characteristic summer events in the Bergzabern region. From Friday, August 7, 2026, to Monday, August 10, 2026, the festival grounds of the Southern Palatinate wine village will be transformed into a Palatinate festival site with wine service, Palatinate specialties, and live music. The Eschbach vintners will present their fruity wines and sparkling wines on the second weekend of August.
Eschbach has around 1,600 inhabitants and is located between Landau and Bad Bergzabern, at the foot of the Vorderpfalz mountains. The village belongs to the VG Landau-Land and is a stop on the Southern Wine Route. In addition to the summer wine festival, there is also a 'Kerwe' (church fair) in autumn on the festival calendar.
The Eschbach Wine Festival focuses on the wine culture of the Palatinate wine village. The local vintners serve their wines directly at the festival grounds. Characteristic of Eschbach are the fruit-forward styles: Riesling with pronounced fruit, white and Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, cuvées, and sparkling wines. The location at the foot of the Vorderpfalz mountains with its warm microclimate favors this style.
The wine festival runs from Friday to Monday and follows the classic Palatinate wine festival dramaturgy: opening on Friday evening, festival operation with live music on Saturday, 'Frühschoppen' (morning pint) and family program on Sunday, and the festival winding down on Monday. The festival tent on the grounds will host the wine service, stage, and food stalls.
Local clubs provide the food: 'Saumagen' (pig's stomach stuffed with pork and spices), bratwurst, liver dumplings, tarte flambée, Palatinate potato soup, and sweets. In the evenings, live bands and DJs play, and on Sunday morning, a brass band provides the 'Frühschoppen' sound. The atmosphere is familial and relaxed – typical for a Palatinate wine village festival of this size.
Eschbach is located about 10 km west of Landau and belongs to the VG Landau-Land. Its proximity to the city of Landau and the castle landscapes of the Trifels region makes it a good stop for hikers and wine travelers. The wine festival attracts visitors from all over the Southern Wine Route and complements the parallel festivals in Hainfeld, Burrweiler, and Bindersbach.
