Village Tradition in Schwarme

Schwarme is a district of the municipality of Syke in the northern Diepholz district and cultivates its independent village life with great care. The Erntedankfest is one of the most important events in the local club life and unites the entire village community. For two days, harvest customs, sociability, and church tradition are the focus.

Saturday: Family Festival from 3 PM

The family festival kicks off on Saturday afternoon from 3 PM. Children can enjoy games and hands-on activities, while families can find seating to relax and enjoy food together. The afternoon is ideal as a relaxed start to the festival weekend and creates the atmosphere for the festive Sunday.

Sunday: Festive Service and Parade from 10 AM

Sunday begins at 10 AM with the festive church service, where thanks are given for the harvest. Afterwards, the grand parade moves through the village—harvest wagons, clubs, the fire brigade, and music bands form the procession. The wagons are festively decorated with grain, vegetables, and flowers, making the harvest theme visible.

Village Community and Volunteer Work

The Erntedankfest is an example of volunteer-driven village culture. The Schwarme village community organizes the festival together, with clubs, the church, and the fire brigade working hand in hand. This creates a weekend that makes genuine village life palpable.
