Liedermacher in the Barfüßerruine

The Barfüßerruine in Erfurt's Old Town is one of Thuringia's most atmospheric open-air venues. The former Franciscan church, destroyed in an air raid in 1944, stands today as a raw sandstone structure with Gothic pointed arches under the open sky. In summer, the interior becomes an open-air stage for concerts, theater, and readings.

Four Liedermacher Under the Open Sky

The Erfurter Liedermacherfestival, established for several years as a winter event at the Theaterhaus, is moving outdoors for the first time in 2026 as a "Summer Edition" to the Barfüßerruine. Four artists will present their programs, ranging from pop songs and chanson to thoughtful ballads and engaged songwriting:

• Max Prosa — one of the most renowned contemporary German-speaking Liedermacher, performing in a duo with a guitarist
• Christin Henkel — singer-songwriter and pianist, known for her poetic and pointed lyrics
• Johanna Philipp — a young voice in the German-speaking Liedermacher scene
• Another act to be announced

Format and Atmosphere

400 seats, unassigned seating, open air. The performance begins at 6:00 PM, as the evening sun still shines over the towers of the Predigerkirche. As dusk falls, spotlights illuminate the ruin walls — an atmosphere that makes every concert here a special experience.

SoKo Erfurt and SommerKomödie

The event is organized by SoKo Erfurt (Summer Concerts) in cooperation with SommerKomödie Erfurt, which presents open-air theater performances in the same area in July/August. Both programs — Liedermacher and comedy — are among the most artistically ambitious open-air events in the state capital of Thuringia.
