Erding Spring Festival

The Spring Festival of the City of Erding

The Erding Spring Festival is the traditional opening festival of the folk festival season in the Upper Bavarian Große Kreisstadt Erding (District of Erding, Bavaria). The venue is the central Volksfestplatz, which is used twice a year for a large folk festival: in May for the Spring Festival, and in September for the Erding Autumn Festival ("Auf geht's").

Premiere in 2026: its own marquee

With the 2026 edition, the Spring Festival will have its own large marquee for the first time. The marquee will be operated by the experienced festival family Widmann from Marzling, known from numerous folk festivals in Upper Bavaria. Live music will be played daily in the marquee – including i-Düpferl and D'Moosner. The marquee is intended to give the Spring Festival a similar convivial atmosphere to the Erding Autumn Festival.

Rides and Festival Grounds

Around the marquee, there are modern rides (Ferris wheel, roller coaster, family rides), food and drink stalls with Upper Bavarian delicacies, Franconian wine, festival beer, and sweets, as well as skill games. The festival grounds are centrally located in Erding and are within walking distance of the city center.

Erding and the Folk Festival Tradition

Erding, with around 36,000 inhabitants, is a Große Kreisstadt in the Upper Bavarian district of Erding, known for the Erdinger Weißbräu brewery, the Therme Erding spa, and its proximity to Munich Airport. The Spring Festival fits into the strong Upper Bavarian folk festival culture – with the aim of being a family folk festival, complemented by the new marquee concept from 2026.
