Historic steamship journey from Ditzum to Leer on the occasion of the Ditzum Harbor Festival
The steamship Prinz Heinrich is one of the most prominent historic ships on the Ems and is considered a living landmark of the region's maritime history. With its characteristic funnel, steam-powered engine, and classic design, it is both a means of transport and a floating monument. The special trips between the East Frisian harbors are firmly established in the region.
The Ems journey on the occasion of the Ditzum Harbor Festival starts in the historic fishing harbor of Ditzum—one of East Frisia's postcard motifs. From there, the route leads upstream on the Ems to Leer. The journey takes about two and a half hours. The docking point in Leer is Ernst-Reuter-Platz in the city center.
The Ems journey is part of the Ditzum Harbor Festival program on the preceding Saturday and Sunday. It connects the maritime event with the city of Leer and allows visitors to combine the harbor festival with a boat trip.
Tickets are announced and sold before the start of the season through Touristik Leer and the ship service provider. Early booking is recommended due to limited ship capacity.
