Beer festival on the market square in the heart of the Haßberge district
For three decades, the Eltmann Beer Days have been the convivial highlight of the summer in the beer town of Eltmann on the Main River. Breweries from the region gather on the market square, lined with half-timbered and baroque townhouses in the old town, to serve their beers and celebrate Franconian brewing craftsmanship. Eltmann is located in the Haßberge Nature Park, one of the densest brewery regions in Europe, and the Beer Days reflect this tradition.
The local breweries from Eltmann and the surrounding communities of the Haßberge district present their range: Vollbier, Pils, Kellerbier, Weizen, and seasonal specialties. Franconian beer is among the most diverse in the world – each brewery maintains its own tradition, its own hop and malt blends. The Eltmann Beer Days offer the public the opportunity to taste varieties that are otherwise only available locally.
The Festgemeinschaft Biertage, an association of Eltmann clubs, is responsible for catering: Bratwürste (sausages), Schäuferla (pork shoulder), Sauerbraten (marinated roast beef), and homemade cakes represent Franconian cuisine. In addition, stalls also offer Mediterranean specialties with grilled meat skewers, pasta, and antipasti – a culinary bridge that has become a tradition for regular guests.
During the day, the market square invites visitors to linger with long beer tables, music, and a relaxed atmosphere. In the evening, the stage comes alive with live music: brass bands, rock, pop, and party bands from Franconia ensure a lively atmosphere late into the night. Dancing, laughter, and meeting people are hallmarks of the event.
The town of Eltmann is located between Bamberg and Schweinfurt on the Main River, nestled in the Haßberge Nature Park. The Wallburg (hillfort) above the town shapes the silhouette, and the Main River offers excursion opportunities for hikers and cyclists on the Main Cycle Path. For over thirty years, the Beer Days have been a unifying element for the town's community in the state of Bavaria.
Families are also welcome: play areas, children's ice cream, and a child-friendly program on Sunday make the festival a weekend destination for young and old. Admission is free; food and drinks are served at usual festival prices.
The 2026 edition of the Eltmann Beer Days celebrates the Franconian brewing tradition with breweries from the Haßberge district. On the historic market square, guests can expect a two-day program with beer specialties, Franconian and Mediterranean cuisine, and live music.
Saturday opens at 2 PM with the beer tapping ceremony and festivities; in the evening, bands from the region will perform. Sunday begins with a morning pint (Frühschoppen) starting at 10:30 AM, followed by lunch, coffee and cake, and a relaxed end to the festival in the evening.
Admission to the Eltmann Beer Days is free. Beer is served in sizes from 0.3 l to 1.0 l, with prices in the usual range for Franconian beer festivals. Reservations at the beer tables are not required.
